(Blogmas: Day 24 + Day 25) The End of Blogmas

1 more sleep to go,
1 more sleep 'til Santa,
1 more sleep 'til the big fat fella

Well guys, there's only one more sleep until the big day arrives. It's been a real amazing experience doing Blogmas and I'm glad I did it. Yes, it was a massive challenge doing a blog post everyday and it was difficult having to put up "iffy" posts due to time restraints, but I'm glad I chose to do it in the end. It's crazy to think that 24 days ago, I was writing Blogmas post day 1. So thank you guys, for sticking with me while I attempt this challenge.

It definitely wasn't easy, but the knowledge of knowing that people on the internet were watching me do Blogmas kept me going. ( I feel like I'm giving an Oscar speech! haha) Over Blogmas, thank you to those of you who left me little comments here and there - it brightened up my day so much, so thank you for that, even if I do only have around 4 readers. I don't have many readers, but maybe one day if my blog becomes more successful, I'll look back on Blogmas 2013 and see how far I've come.

I also gained a follower (Freya) so thank you, Freya! (I actually have 2 followers, but the other one's me so that doesn't really count) Gaining a follower let me know that my blog was actually going somewhere. There are a few people in my school who know about my blog, but was really rewarding to see that my first follower wasn't one of my friends that knew me personally, and that she only knew me through my writing.

Phew. Okay, I have tons more "thank you"s to give out, but my four readers probably aren't interested. I just thought to end off Blogmas, I'd leave a link of my favourite Blogmas entries. (All the Blogmas posts can be found on the right, under the "December" header.)

(Blogmas: Day 11) You Get What You Give
(This is my most favourite one and the one I'm most proud of - I'm really pleased I wrote it.)
(Blogmas: Day 17) Taking Chances (My second best one)

I hope you all enjoyed Blogmas very much - as much as I did! It's now officially the 25th of December, so I can finally say: I hope you all have a very, very, very merry Christmas. I hope you get the presents you wanted and you have a fabulous time with all your relatives who will most likely be coming over for Christmas dinner later.

Now I'm heading off to bed, before Father Christmas arrives and tells me off for staying up so late! Oops!

Merry Christmas!
Thank you and good night!
*bows to tremendous applause*

(Blogmas: Day 23) Rainy Days

Recently, the weather in the UK's been dreadful. Raining from 8 am to 8 pm and beyond, winds blowing constantly throughout the day, the bashing of the rain drops against my window, it hasn't exactly been a 'White Christmas'. I'm not talking about amazing summer rains here, I mean full on fat pellets of rain and winds that literally knock you off your balance.

On top of that, my mum and I decided to go out today and do some last minute Christmas food shopping. That was a nightmare. There were people pushing and shoving and it was nearly impossible to get through any of the aisles. You couldn't even look at one or two things and contemplate about whether it was really worth the calories, you just had to grab it and hope that you could work all the calories off later and "thank god you actually found the last packet."

And after that traumatic experience of shopping on Christmas Eve Eve, my mother and I headed home to recover and spend the rest of that horrible, rainy day inside our house. Which might not sound very exciting, but I loved it. There's something extremely comforting about being inside when it sounds like chaos outside and you're just curled up, wearing the warmest pyjamas and sipping hot tea. So in a way, although the weather is atrocious right now, the day turned out pretty good. And today, I decided to compile a rainy day checklist for you! Enjoy!
  • A good movie - anything girly, preferably starring Andrew Garfield if possible. Turn out all the lights and make some popcorn if you have any.
  • A box set of your choice - hours of endless fun (right now I'm watching How I Met Your Mother over and over again.)
  • Something hot - this could be tea, cake or even a piping hot lasagne. Mmmm....
  • A book - again something girly is preferable but you could also use this time to catch up on some books you've been wanting to read for a while
  • A blanket - this is my absolute necessity. There's nothing quite like snuggling under a warm blankie when it's stormin' outside.
  • Anything else that will keep you warm and cosy. (Rainy day tip: Laptops are great for keeping your stomach and legs warm. You can use them to watch YouTube as well.)

Hope the weather is better where you are :)  Right, I'm off to bed now - let's hope the wind outside won't keep me up too much. Sweet dreams my little light bulbs!

Can you believe it?! 3 More days until Christmas!! Hope you all are enjoying your holidays and are definitely more well-rested than before.

So it's Christmas soon, which means that it's Christmas party season. And after that it's New Year's, and after that Chinese New Year, and after that my birthday and after that Valentine's Day etc. This probably means that you go delving into your closet more frequently to see what you could possibly wear for any party. And it can't just be ANYTHING. It has to be comfortable and flattering and something no one else has and festive-y and gorgeous and ,most importantly, it has to scream you. And something like that isn't always easy to find.

Even if you're going to be chillin' and relaxin' (and shootin' some B-ball outside of the school...anyone know where that's from?) this holiday, it's fundamental that you have that something special for whatever occasion you might have. Right? Okay, that might just be my inner shopaholic talking, but still it's always best to be prepared. Which brings me to the age-old saying amongst us girls which is: I have nothing to wear.

I mean it's not as if this happens:

In reality it's more like this:

Which brings me onto my next point. Why do we always have our closets packed full of clothes yet we always say to ourselves, "I have nothing to wear."? I don't understand it and I am one of the guiltiest of this terrible act. So while I was doing some "winter cleaning", as I like to call it, I realised that there's no point in keeping clothes you're not going to wear. Yes keep that sparkly dress for the party, but after that think to yourself - "Am I ever going to wear it again?" Because instead of buying a new dress for every event, consider borrowing a friend's dress or even buy just a simple dress and re-vamp it for whatever party you need to attend. Instead of thinking, I have nothing to wear, try creating some ways you can wear that same piece a different way.

For example, with an LBD (Little Black Dress), you could style it these ways:
  • Flower Power (e.g. shirts, bracelets, rings, jackets etc.)
  • Metallics (over the summer silver shoes and silver bags were everywhere and actually look really cool with LBDs)
  • Keep it classy (add a high bun and a nice pearl necklace.)
  • Wear it as a skirt by adding a shirt over the top
  • Wear it as a top with maybe a skater skirt in a different colour
  • Pops of Colour (adding bright accessories to a neutral outfit is perfect for jazzing up a boring outfit.)
  • Wear a T-Shirt inside (go for white for a monochromatic look or use a bright coloured T-shirt instead. You can also alternate between long-sleeved tops, short sleeved, 3/4 sleeved, fancy sleeved, cap sleeved etc...)
  • Rock it with a leather jacket and combat boots for a tough girl look
  • Change up your hair or shoes - mixing and matching with these two creates a really interesting ensemble
There's obviously TONS more ways you can style an LBD but I just wanted to show you a few to let you know that there's always more than one way to style a piece of clothing to make the most of your closet. Maybe then we can avoid that horrid feeling of your heart sinking every time you think "S*#%. I have nothing to wear."

Side note: I feel so weird after writing this - a bit like a beauty/fashion blogger! Heehee :)

Hello there! Nice to see you again, but I'm going to stop you right there. You can keep reading if you want, but in order to really appreciate this post, I'm advising you to wait until you're about  to go to bed or it's night-time wherever you are. Set a reminder for yourself on your phone and please just hold off until it's night time for you. I'll wait. See you back in a few hours!

Okay, so I'm assuming that you're still reading because it's night time wherever you are. Either that, or you're being incredibly naughty and not listening to me. The reason I asked you to read this in the night is because Tumblr just seems so much more special the later it is. There's a reason that people always talk about going on Tumblr at 3 or 4 in the morning and why the phrase "late night feels" circulates the internet so much. It's because the later it becomes, the more tired and honest we are with ourselves and with everyone else. Therefore, when you're more 'in the mood' you can really appreciate the things I'm about to share with you.

There's something not a lot of people know about me which is that I'm obsessed with Tumblr. It's my guilty pleasure. There's something so special about it. I think the main reason I love it so much is that everyone turns to Tumblr for the same reasons. They're either looking for some inspiration, upset or in a very 'deep' mood. And the great thing about that is that everyone on Tumblr ends up being honest and open. Because there's no fear of judgement there. Everyone is reposts or blogs their real feelings that people can relate to. And these people might not necessarily have been able to say those things themselves so hearing someone else with the same thoughts and opinions can be quite comforting to hear.  And essentially it is quite anonymous - people don't know your full name, school, family etc. so it's getting to know someone the right way. By their thoughts and interests and feelings - not just on whether they're pretty or not. I could go on, but I'll save you the rambling for today.

So onto my obsession. I've decided to share a small sample of my favourite Tumblr pictures with you all. These are just some pictures I've saved from Tumblr and put on my laptop which in a way is quite nice because then it's my own personal Tumblr. In no way am I being sponsored by the website (although if anyone reading this works for Tumblr, feel free to offer me any freebies/a job.) I just have loved the whole community and website for a long time and I just really, really recommend it. Scroll through them slowly and take the time to really look at each picture. Enjoy my lovelies and have a night filled with beautiful dreams! :)
